The Top-Selling Singer Of 2018 So Far Is Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman is the top-selling singer of 2018 so far, outselling performers like Taylor Swift and rapper Kanye West, whose latest album, “Ye,” has been burning up the charts.
Despite 2018 seeing some of the biggest artists in music releasing new albums, including Cardi B and Taylor Swift, the best selling album of the year so far belongs to the soundtrack of “The Greatest Showman,” the movie about P. T. Barnum and his creation of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.
According to Bloomberg Business, the soundtrack has sold close to 4 million copies worldwide, outselling the next most popular album, Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, by about 2-to-1.
The record has also racked up an impressive amount of streams across multiple platforms, with the track “The Greatest Show” currently sitting at over 100 million streams on Spotify.
According to Warner Music, “The Greatest Showman” soundtrack is the best-selling album since Disney’s “Frozen” took home the honor in 2014.
Over the weekend, the 49-year-old actor thanked fans in the United Kingdom for keeping the soundtrack number one for 21 weeks.
“The @GreatestShowman #soundtrack is #1 in the #UK for 21 weeks! Absolutely awesome! A million thanks. @ZacEfron @Zendaya @kealasettle @pasekandpaul #MG #Grateful,” Jackman tweeted, along with a video of thanks.
