Nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday and ABC’s General Hospital led the soapy pack with 23 total nods, edging out Days of Our Lives‘ 22. The Young and the Restless followed with 21, while CBS sister series The Bold and the Beautiful netted 13.
Rookie talker The Kelly Clarkson Show put up a strong showing, scoring seven total nods (the most of any entertainment talk show) including for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.
Meanwhile, Dr. Oz (the show and the talk show host) were completely shut out for the first time in a decade. Were his controversial coronavirus comments to blame?
After having been relegated to an online live stream for the past four years, this year’s ceremony will return to its broadcast roots (albeit virtually) via CBS on Friday, June 26 at 8/7c. The broadcast will only include leading categories, with recipients and special guests appearing from home.
