TV Star Rips Into Political Correctness

Former “Deal Or No Deal” host and current “America’s Got Talent” judge Howie Mandel has some pretty spicy thoughts on how political correctness is ruining comedy.

On Thursday night, Mandel was asked whether he thought comedy was headed in the right direction. His answer might surprise you.

“It’s not fun anymore,” he told TMZ reporters. “Comedy was fun. When I came out here, I couldn’t wait to hit the stage and try my wares, and step over the line and find out where the line is. Not anymore. Not fun!”

Mandel added that the age of Richard Pryor type comedy is dead and gone now.

“I watched Richard Pryor each and every night get up on stage and put together ‘Live On The Sunset Strip.’ And every night, he said things that were jaw-dropping and exciting and edgy and different. And he inspired me to go out there and be somewhat fearless … Truth be told, he made it fun. It doesn’t exist anymore. I’m so afraid of people who have recording devices. You don’t know what’s going to happen. You could lose an entire career just by trying out one piece of material.”

Mandell is not the only star who is tired of political correctness.

Back in 2016 Clint Eastwood voiced his opinion on this subject.

Plenty of other celebrities have warned of the politically correct takeover in the entertainment industry. Back in April, actor Mel Brooks told the Daily Beast that he’s “never been a fan of political correctness.” (RELATED: MEL BROOKS SEES POLITICS MUCH DIFFERENTLY FROM THE REST OF HIS HOLLYWOOD COLLEAGUES)

Yet while a select few entertainers are brave enough to call out the death of comedy as we know it, modernizing pop culture indicates that political correctness is here to stay.
