President Trump on Sunday night lashed out at another billionaire TV personality: Oprah Winfrey.
He took exception to Oprah’s segment on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that brought a divisive group of Michigan voters back together to reflect on Trump’s first year in the White House.
“Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes,” Trump said just before midnight at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
He sarcastically encouraged Oprah to attempt a White House bid despite her repeated denials that she is exploring a 2020 campaign.
“The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect,” Trump said. “Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!”
His tweet failed to elaborate on which questions or statements he found upsetting.
The segment had Oprah moderating the same 14 people assembled in 2017 to review the pros and cons of Trump’s presidency.
One Republican participant, Jennifer Allard, who vowed to never vote for Trump, said he lacked the temperament to serve as commander-in-chief. She pointed to his penchant for volatile tweets as a prime example.
I don’t agree that it is okay to tweet the way that he does, getting in a war with North Korea, ‘My button’s bigger than your button,’” she said.
Another panelist, Tom Nemcek, a self-described libertarian, defended Trump as a “counter puncher” for responding to Kim Jong Un’s taunt.
