The 50-year-old actor was being interviewed by ESPN SportsCenter’s Michael Smith ahead of the NBA All-Star Game on Friday night when a question about something other than sports made the star angry.

“I know you’ve prepared and I saw pictures. Did you and Katie Holmes play basketball for Valentine’s Day? Like some real Love & Basketball?” Smith said, referencing paparazzi photos showing Foxx and Holmes, 39, playing basketball.

The question prompted Foxx to remove the headphones and microphone and walk away from the interview.

He did, however, sport a small grin when asked about Holmes.

“Uh oh, did we lose him?” Smith said as Foxx went to stretch on the court. “Oh, he ready to go, he ready to hoop.”

The Valentine’s Day photos were of a select batch of images that feature the two together. They have notoriously kept their relationship private.

“Jamie and Katie’s relationship is not a secret but they both like to keep it under the radar,” a Foxx source told PEOPLE.

“They have nothing to hide but Jamie, especially, is very low key about his life in general, and rarely talks about it. He is not one to acknowledge anything about his private life and neither does Katie,” the source continued.

The couple was first spotted dancing together at an event in the Hamptons in 2013 and have kept a low profile ever since.
