The BET Awards are back for their 2022 edition, with Taraji P. Henson hosting Culture’s Biggest Night for the second year in a row. The show airs live on BET Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
Silk Sonic, the R&B duo comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, took home the most combined wins with three. The pair won best group and album of the year for “An Evening With Silk Sonic,” while .Paak also took home video director of the year for helming their music videos. Kendrick Lamar also won big for best male hip-hop artist and best video for “Family Ties” with Baby Keem. Will Smith took home the trophy for best actor, while “King Richard” won best film.
Performers during the star-studded show include Lil Wayne, Lizzo, Jack Harlow, Roddy Ricch, Babyface, Chance the Rapper, Chlöe, Doechii, Ella Mai, Fireboy DML, Giveon, Joey Bada$$, Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin, Latto and Muni Long. Surprise appearances included Kanye West, who presented the Lifetime Achievement award to Sean “Diddy” Combs, Brandy during Harlow’s performance and Mariah Carey joined Latto for a rendition of “Big Energy.”
