Abby Huntsman, a rising star at Fox News who co-hosted the weekend edition of morning show Fox & Friends, is joining the cast of the ABC morning show The View.
Huntsman, who bid adieu to her Fox News colleagues on air Aug. 12, will take the chair vacated by Sara Haines, who is set to co-host a new edition of the Good Morning America franchise with Michael Strahan.
The daughter of U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman, Abby Huntsman will join her friend and fellow conservative Meghan McCain on the panel show, starting in September.
Her move to ABC has been rumored for more than a month, though the network would not confirm the news until Tuesday’s announcement.
“I couldn’t be more be excited to return to my professional roots at ABC News,” Huntsman said in the announcement. “I look forward to adding my own point of view to the most interesting and successful talk show on television today. Joining the women at ‘The View’ really is a dream come true!”
Hilary Estey McLoughlin, senior executive producer of the show, said that Huntsman “brings her unique life and professional experiences and has a smart, relatable and distinctive point of view on everything from pop culture to politics to parenthood.”
Huntsman, a former MSNBC co-host, first joined Fox News in 2015 as a correspondent.
The 22nd season of The View begins Sept. 4.
