Savannah Guthrie is the latest anchor to be forced into reduced circumstances by the coronavirus.
The “Today” anchor announced that she would be broadcasting from home beginning Wednesday in an Instagram posted Tuesday night. Hoda Kotb will still be live from Studio 1A.
“Hi everybody,” Guthrie, 48, wrote. “Well, this will be a first. I’m going to be anchoring TODAY from my house! In an abundance of caution, and to model the super vigilance the CDC has asked of all of us, I’m staying home because I have a mild sore throat and runny nose. This was the advice of NBC’s superb medical team and my bosses. I feel good and am sure I will be back in no time — but during these days, it’s on all of us to be extra cautious and caring of those around us.”
Monday, Al Roker and Craig Melvin were revealed to be skipping the show after a staffer had tested positive for coronavirus. Earlier this month, NBC made the decision to abandon live audiences for “Today” tapings.
