One Battle After Another won Best Feature at the 31st annual Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night, after Paul Thomas Anderson pulled off an upset for Best Director and won Best Adapted Screenplay for the Warner Bros thriller.
Timothée Chalamet won Best Actor for A24’s Marty Supreme, and Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Focus Features’ Hamnet. Best Supporting Actor and Actress went to Jacob Elordi for Netflix‘s Frankenstein and Amy Madigan of Warner Bros’ Weapons.
Warner Bros‘ Sinners came in with a leading 17 nominations, and Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster took home a co-leading four statuettes on Sunday: Best Original Screenplay, Young Actor or Actress (Miles Caton), Score and the inaugural Casting and Ensemble prize. Netflix’s Frankenstein also won four CCAs: Best Supporting Actor for Jacob Elordi, along with Costume Design, Hair & Makeup and Production Design.
Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters won two for Best Animated Feature and Song, and Apple’s F1 also took a pair for Best Sound and Editing. Neon’s The Secret Agent won Best Foreign Film, andParamount’s The Naked Gun took Best Comedy.
Other film winners included 20th Century Studios’ Avatar: Fire and Ash, Netflix’s Train Dreams and Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Four Best Picture nominees — Wicked: For Good, Sentimental Value, Jay Kelly and Bugonia — were shut out.
On the TV side, The Pitt won Best Drama Series, and the HBO Max hospital show’s Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa took the respective Best Actor and Supporting Actress prizes.
