Dancing with the Stars Season 28 is here, and it features a star-studded cast that includes James Van Der Beek, Lamar Odom, Ally Brooke, Hannah Brown, Kel Mitchell, and more.
Actor Charlie Sheen was also slated to appear on the show. In fact, he even planned to meet with your favorite dance coach. However, he reportedly turned the opportunity down at the very last minute.
The former Two and a Half Men star opened up in Us Weekly’s latest issue, telling the outlet that he was set to appear on the show and had planned on rehearsing with Cheryl Burke. But, eventually, reality set in and he realized that he just wouldn’t have been able to pull off all the leaps, twists, and other moves that come with the show.
“I was very flattered by ABC and their offer, but at the end of the day, I have two left feet, and I just can’t dance,” he explained to the outlet.
Us Weekly notes that his casting was “part of a bigger deal at ABC,” with a source explaining, “When there is a big star like that, they will get some sort of deal for a pilot with ABC.”
His publicist confirmed the deal, saying that “ABC made a very generous offer” for a pilot series, which was “contingent upon his participation on Dancing With the Stars.”
Burke went on to team up with former NFL star Ray Lewis. They pair found itself in the bottom two in the Sept. 23 episode. But luckily, Burke and Lewis pulled through, beating Mary Wilson of The Supremes. You can watch them on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Mondays.
Model Christine Brinkley dropped out of the show hours before its Sept. 16 premiere after suffering injuries during dance practice.
“While rehearsing for the premiere of Dancing with the Stars, Christie Brinkley suffered injuries which required surgery to her wrist and arm,” the network said in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly. “She is unable to continue her planned participation on the show.”
But luckily, someone in Brinkley’s inner circle stepped in to take her place.
“Keeping it all in the family, her daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook, a Sports Illustrated model, has chosen to quickly step in with hours to learn the entire routine and will compete in her mother’s place for the remainder of the season,” the statement continued.
