Bronx-born hip hop star Cardi B turned herself in at a Queens police precinct stationhouse Monday after being accused of engaging in a heated altercation with a pair of bartenders at a strip club, sources said.
The “I Like It” rapper was charged with assault and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors, after she allegedly hurled items during the dispute with the bartenders — sisters Jade and Baddie Gi — at the Angels Strip Club on Aug. 29.
Cardi, 25, was part of a group of about 10 people when the fight went down, a source told the Daily News, noting that everyone, including Cardi, was throwing things.
“(Cardi) picked up objects and threw them,” the source said.
A bottle and a hookah were both thrown at the sisters. One of the sisters suffered a cut on her foot and bruising on both of her legs, while the other sister did not get hit.
Nobody besides Cardi has been charged.
The rapper was accompanied Monday morning during her trip to the 109th Precinct stationhouse by a pair of body guards who shielded her with umbrellas as she walked in.
They opted not to use the umbrellas as she departed the station. Cardi laughed and waved to a pack of fans as she made her way toward a black SUV. She is scheduled to appear in Queens Criminal Court on Oct. 29.
“We’re aware of no evidence she caused anybody any harm at the club that night,” her lawyer, Jeff Kern, told reporters at the scene. “We expect that the matter is gonna be resolved expeditiously.”
The artist is said to have had issues with one of the bartenders, Jade, because she believes Jade slept with her husband, rapper Offset, at one point, TMZ reported.
Offset’s hip hop group Migos performed at the venue on the night of the incident.
The skirmish was sparked when someone threw a drink, according to TMZ.
The lawyer representing the bartenders released a statement Monday calling for Cardi B to “answer for her crimes.”
“Cardi B ordered and committed violent assaults against my clients, and is being called to justice for her crimes,” Joe Tacopina said. “Apparently, she thinks her celebrity status puts her above the law, since she has bragged to multiple people and on social media that she orchestrated these vicious attacks. But reality is setting in, as justice does not care whether her name is Cardi B or Carly B.”
This past weekend, Cardi took the stage in Central Park for a performance at the charitable Global Citizen Festival, which raises money in an effort to end world poverty, among other cause
