Brad Pitt Gets Political in Oscar Speech

While accepting his Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor on Sunday night, Brad Pitt called out the United States Senate for voting for a no-witness impeachment trial.

“They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week,” Pitt said, after receiving his accolade for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. “I’m thinking maybe Quentin does a movie about it, in the end, the adults do the right thing.”

Pitt went on to give a shoutout to his director, calling Tarantino, an “original” and “one of a kind. “The film industry would be a much drier place without you,” he said, adding that the “Pulp Fiction” filmmaker had taught him to “look for the worst in people, but expect the best.”

He then turned his speech into a tribute to his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, who is nominated for Best Actor at this year’s Oscars, saying “I’ll ride on your coattails any day.”
