Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto have signed on to star in Apple’s scripted WeWork project, which has been ordered to series at the streamer.
The series is titled “WeCrashed,” based on the Wondery podcast of the same name. It is described as following the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of WeWork, one of the world’s most valuable startups, and the narcissists whose chaotic love made it all possible.
Hathaway and Leto are both Oscar winners. Hathaway won the award for best supporting actress for her role in the 2012 film version of “Les Misérables,” while Leto won for best supporting actor for the 2013 drama “Dallas Buyers Club.” Both will serve as executive producers on “WeCrashed” in addition to starring.
Hathaway most recently appeared in the Doug Liman featured “Locked Down” and the HBO Max remake of “The Witches.” Her other notable feature credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Rachel Getting Married,” and “Interstellar.” “WeCrashed” will mark her first regular television role since starring in the Fox sitcom “Get Real.”
Leto originally broke out during his time on the ABC drama “My So-Called Life.” Along with “Dallas Buyers Club,” he has gone on to star in a number of celebrated films, including “Fight Club,” “Requiem for a Dream,” “Blade Runner 2049.” He will star in the upcoming “Morbius” film, which was recently pushed back to October. Leto is also one of the founding members of the band “30 Seconds to Mars.”
