ABC will urge viewers to vote with a nonpartisan comedy special set to air in mid-September.
Kevin Hart will host VOMO: Vote or Miss Out, and appear alongside an all-star list of comics, musicians and politicians. The special is set to air Sept. 14, following the premiere of Dancing With the Stars.
Media company ATTN: is producing the show for ABC alongside tom + sara, the production company headed by Tom Werner and Sara Gilbert (The Conners), voting advocacy group When We All Vote and Done + Dusted.
“We have a societal responsibility to participate in our country’s democracy,” said Werner. “This nonpartisan special will, through comedy, encourage people to vote this November.”
The special will feature comedy bits and musical performances from 2 Chainz and Lil Baby, Cristela Alonzo, Tim Allen, Whitney Cummings, Will Ferrell, Kaia Gerber, Charlamagne Tha God, Tiffany Haddish, Jon Hamm, Scarlett Johansson, Liza Koshy, Jay Leno, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith. Michelle Obama, former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, Ann Romney and Cindy McCain will also provide information on registering and voting, highlighting potential changes in the process caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
