Hollywood’s obsession with remakes, reboots, reimaginings, retellings, reenactments, redos, and just about anything else beginning with ‘re’, doesn’t start and end with movies, because it’s just as prevalent on the TV side of things.

In the era of Peak TV, it seems like no idea can be considered a bad idea, and even more so that nothing can stay dead. Especially with the rise of streaming services, and the networks efforts to keep up, having a recognisable IP is worth its weight in gold. Hence why, over the last few years, we’ve seen the likes of Twin Peaks, Gilmore Girls, Full House, Murphy Brown, and Charmed all make a return to the small screen, for better or worse.

It doesn’t matter too much how beloved the series is, nor how well it holds up: one of the biggest revamps announced this year was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which caused quite the stir when revealed at Comic-Con (despite the potential of telling a new story in that world). Whether the original cast is coming back or it’s updating the story for a whole new generation, or flipping it completely, there are a number of big TV shows on their way back to the screen.[/nextpage][nextpage]

10. Bewitched

Bewitched Samantha Stephens
ABC

The 1960s fantasy series, which starred Elizabeth Montgomery as the witch Samantha who marries a mortal man, isn’t only regarded as a classic, and has already been given the reboot treatment once before.

The Nicole Kidman/Will Ferrell version sadly failed miserably as casting a spell over audiences, but there’s hope a new version will be twitching its nose and enchanting a new generation.

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and writer Yamara Taylor are developing the show for ABC, who’ve ordered a pilot, and will update it to a modern setting, with the new Samantha an African-American witch who marries a mortal white man.[/nextpage][nextpage]

9. Clarissa Explains It All

Clarissa Explains It All Melissa Joan Hart
Nickelodeon

One hit Melissa Joan Hart series underwent a radical reboot earlier this year, with Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and now Hart’s other major 90s show is set for a comeback too.

Unlike Sabrina, though, this time Hart will actually be reprising her iconic role, once again playing Clarissa Darling, only now she’ll be the family matriarch, with the series likely to split focus between her and her fourth-wall breaking child.[/nextpage][nextpage]

8. Rugrats

Rugrats Regarding Stuie
Nickelodeon

A Nickelodeon classic for anyone who grew up in the 90s, the initial run of Rugrats spawned 172 episodes, three movies, a video game, comics, and then its own spin-off/continuation series, All Grown Up.

With nostalgia opening up a huge market though, and since we’re entering the era of 90s nostalgia quite specifically, it is, of course, coming back. A revival has been under consideration for a few years now, but it was only back in June that it was 100% confirmed. Nickelodeon have ordered 26 new episodes of the show initially, while there are also plans for a CGI/live-action movie too, which is expected to land in 2020.[/nextpage][nextpage]

7. ALF

ALF Consider Me Gone
NBC

Remember ALF? He’s back, in reboot form!

The 80s sitcom, which saw its titular extraterrestrial – real name Gordan Shumway – crash land in the garage of a middle-class suburban family and all manner of hijinks ensue.

The only thing we know for sure is that it’ll once again revolve around the adventures of the Alien Life Form, although one idea being floated is that it’ll find him emerging from Area 51, where he’s been held since the initial series finale, and adapting to a world that’s completely changed since.
